Inside an On-Camera Class at NYPAA

Wondering what an on-camera session actually looks like? Here’s a quick walk-through of how our faculty run the room.

We start with sides. Real, current-style copy — the kind of material you’d actually be sent for a self-tape. Students prep on their feet, not for hours at home.

Then we shoot. Every student works in front of the lens, with a real reader and clean framing. No theory-only critiques. You see what casting would see.

Then we play it back. The feedback is specific: eye-line, listening, choices, takes that landed and takes that didn’t. Repetition is the point.

Then we go again. The reps are where the work changes.

This is how working actors stay sharp between auditions. Request a call with our enrollment team to find the next start date that fits your schedule.
